Then and now

We were talking about high school and days gone by last night, it made me think about how much life has changed, or has it?

Then: I did a doughnut in the school parking lot.
Now: I did a doughnut in the parking lot at work.

Then: I overslept for the ACT, had to retake (and pay again).
Now: Had to wake up teenager to make sure he didn't miss the ACT.

Then: I thought I knew everything.
Now: I don't know anything.

Then: Sixers, Eagles, and Phillies were disappointments.
Now: Sixers, Eagles, and Phillies are disappointments.

Then: Watched Prince sing Purple Rain on the tube.
Now: Watched Prince sing Purple Rain on the tube.

Then: Masturbation was a great stress reliever.
Now: Masturbation is a great stress reliever.

Then: I wanted a house without wheels.
Now: I have a house firmly attached to the ground.

Then: I hated to be told what to do.
Now: I hate to be told what to do.

Then: Women were a mystery.
Now: Women are a mystery.

Then: Teacher asked me, "Can you be serious?"
Now: Co-worker asked me, "Can you be serious?"

Then: Best class I took was typing.
Now: That typing class was good, see, I'm using it now (I promise I typed this fast).

Well, I guess a lot of things have changed, but a lot haven't.

My dad is going to die very soon

I walked into his apartment and sat beside his bed as he lay asleep. His wife gave a nudge and his bleary eyes opened halfway. A half smile...
