For the second time in a week or so, I stumbled upon the idea of whether people would vote for candidate that was open about their depression. Just think of a person on the bi-polar rollar coaster with access to the machinery of war? I'm not sure where I stand on the issue, but it's been put in my face twice so it is now in my mind. My first thought is it depends on the magnitude/severity of their condition, and of course some conditions are worse than others. I guess it'd all be fine if they took their medications on a timely basis, but the general public would never let them get there - they'd bring up the rear in any contest. And, this is not restricted to politics as we all know. I know of a couple people severely ostracized due to their openness about their mental ailments. I keep mine hidden, people just think I am aloof and an angry person, but I am more than competent with my job. I actually get along very well with people as it is easy to mimc them, become what they want (see Borderline Personality Disorder). My full blown depressive episodes/life is hidden at home or my personal activities.
